Erste Etappe - Apfelblüte im Taunus // Roadtrip pt. I Appleblossom

<English text below> Wenn einer eine Reise tut...zu erzählen haben wir so Einiges. Einen Monat ist es nun her, dass wir mit unserem kleinen Auto Berlin verlassen haben. Viel gesehen haben wir, viel gelernt und ganz viele Erinnerungen geschaffen. Nicht immer ist die Internetverbindung mit mir gewesen, so das ich erst jetzt dazu komme unsere erste Etappe niederzuschreiben. Aber ich fange mal von vorn an.

Alles begann mit unserer Liebe zu Frankreich und der Idee, man könnte gemeinsam Elternzeit nehmen um endlich mal mehr und vor allem längere Zeit bei diesem wunderschönen und vielfältigem Nachbarn zu verbringen. Wir sind schon oft in Paris und auf Korsika gewesen und vor zwei Jahren machten wir eine Provence-Rundreise inklusive Lyon. Und auch Marseille war schon einmal einen Städtetrip wert. Nun sollen es andere Landstriche werden, die eventuell sonst nicht per Flieger schnell erreicht werden können oder es in die Auswahl zum Sommerurlaub "geschafft" haben. Drei Monate wollten wir mit unserer neun Monate alten Tochter reisen. Sie wird sich sehr verändern und sogar ihren ersten Geburtstag auf Reisen erleben. Der Kofferraum des Skoda Fabia Kombis ist picke packe voll aber optimal genutzt durch Kisten statt Koffern. Gefahren wird immer mit der ersten Schlafzeit sowie etwas davor und danach. Das gibt uns circa drei Stunden Reichweite. Die erste Etappe sollte jedoch die Längste sein. Wir nutzen ausnahmsweise beide Schlafzeiten und machen dazwischen einen längeren Stop zum Essen, krabbeln und spielen. Wir fahren in den Taunus zur Familie. Von dort aus ist es ein Katzensprung nach Frankreich.

Der Taunus ist ein sehr erholsamer Ort, wenn auch dicht mit vielen kleinen Orten besiedelt. Es gibt traditionsreiche Gastwirschaften und Schankstuben. Da wir bei der Familie zu Besuch sind steht kein größeres Sightseeing an aber wir machen kleinere Ausflüge, wie etwa zum Obsthof Krieger in Kronberg. Dort wird der Apfelwein hergestellt und es gibt auch kleinere Snacks aber das eigentliche Highlight, dass sind die vielen prachtvoll blühenden Apfelbäume und so sind in dieser Märchenlandschaft ein paar Fotos entstanden, die selbst davon berichten können, dass es dieser Ort einen kleinen Stopp wert ist. Wir kaufen hier ein paar Flaschen prämierten Apfelwein als abgeschwenkt für Freunde in Frankreich und schauen uns noch ein paar Pferde in Mitten der Apfelblüte an. Dann geht es wieder in das kleine Auto und wir sind auch schon fast auf dem Weg nach Frankreich. Der nächste Stop ist eine Nacht in einem Herrauhaus in der Nähe von Verdun und dann geht es auch schon weiter in die Normandie - unweit von Honfleur. Keine dieser Strecken dauert länger als drei Stunden und wir kommen entspannt an. So schön hier!

If someone does a trip ... they'll have plenty to talk about (German proverb). It's been a month since we left Berlin with our little car. We have seen a lot, we've learned a lot and created a lot of memories. Not always is the wifi connection stable, so bare with me if it took a while until I got to write down these lines of our first stage. But I'm starting from the beginning.

It all began with our love for France and the idea to make good use of parental leave and to spend a long time in our beautiful neighboring contry. We have been to Paris and Corsica many times and two years ago we did a Provence-tour including Lyon. And also Marseille has already been worth a city stay for us. Now it will be other, more rural areas, which cannot otherwise be reached by airplanes quickly. For three months we will be traveling with our nine-month-old daughter. She will change a lot and even see her first birthday on this roadtrip. The trunk of the Skoda Fabia (check it out - it's a small car) is alsomost bursting but we try to make the best of it by using boxes instead of suitcases. We are always driving during her first nap of the day as well as some time before and after. This gives us about three hours on the road. However, the first stage should be the longest. We take advantage of both sleeping times and make a long stop for eating, crawling and playing between. We are going to Taunus, a mountain range near Frankfurt to visit family. From there it's just a short trip across the border and to finally get to France.

The Taunus is a very relaxing place, although densely populated with many small towns. There are traditional restaurants, beergardens and the like. Since we are visiting family there is no bigger sightseeing on the agenda but we make smaller excursions, like the Obsthof Krieger in Kronberg. There the apple wine is made and there are also smaller snacks but the real highlight were the many beautiful blossoming apple trees at the beginning of April. In between this fairy tale landscape we made the photos above and below which speak for itself. It is not a long stop but with horses to see and the view into the surrounding fields, this is worth a short visit. We stopped to buy a few bottles of award winning "Aeppler" apple wine as a guest gift for friends in France. Afterwards we are almost on our way to France. The next stop is a night in a a manor house near Verdun and then on to Normandy - not far from Honfleur. None of these routes take more than three hours and we arrive relaxed. So beautiful here!
